Sandstone
A carved sandstone architectural fragment depicting Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of beauty and prosperity. She is a consort of Vishnu and depicted with her attributes in her upper hands. From her lower right hand she distributes coins and in the left hand she is holding a vessel which typically contains a lotus flower. She is seated in lalitasana within a torana or gateway and is flanked by elephants which are spraying her with fertilizing waters.
